How to become an airline pilot?
GENERAL CRITERIA
If you dream of becoming an airline pilot, you are at the right place. Before you start your training at CAVOK, it is important to understand the minimum criteria to apply. Understanding the process itself is not difficult, but first requires a strong commitment, hard-working personality and self-confidence. You can always seek advice from us if you want to know what skills are needed to become a successful pilot.
HEALTH CONDITION
The first step is to visit a hospital or a qualified medical facility for an aviation medical examination. For pilots, physical and mental health are very important. An Aviation Medical Certificate is needed before commencing any training. While an EASA Class 2 Medical Certificate is sufficient for the initial training, a Class 1 Medical Certificate is required for airline pilot training programs.
AGE REQUIREMENT
Generally, the minimum age to start is 18, but it is possible to start at the age of 17 for some courses such as Private Pilot License training if you have permission from your parents. On the other hand, there is no maximum legal age so long you have a valid medical certificate for the required training. Please note that if you are pursuing an airline career, it is not possible to work as a commercial pilot if you are older than the age of 64.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Holding a bachelor’s degree is no longer needed, but it is important to hold at least a Middle or High School Certificate, or equivalent. English is the main language of aviation, therefore fluency in English, both written and oral is very important. At CAVOK Aviation, all the courses are taught in English. The minimum English language requirement is: CEFR B2 English Exam or IELTS 6 or TOEFL 72 or equivalent. In addition to having one of those language certificates, an ICAO Aviation English Certificate is required with a result of 4 or higher. This aviation English exam, which is oral, must be done before your first solo flight unless you can speak Hungarian.
COURSE SELECTION
If you have no prior flight experience, the best choice would be to select one of our 0-ATPL airline training. The0-ATPL packages include all the required flight hours and training for the issuance of an EASA frozen Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL), which consists of a Commercial Pilot License and completed ATPL theory. Exam flights, airport usage and instructor fees are also included with the required flight hours, making it the right choice for trainees. Candidates who already have flight experience and wish to continue at CAVOK Aviation can select from our wide range of modular courses. You can always seek advice from us on which training program suits you best.
