PPL

Overview

This is where your life in aviation begins. PPL training at CAVOK Aviation is the first step towards your other flights and training. No matter if you will be flying for leisure or planning a career as a professional pilot, PPL is the first step. You will be taught by professionals to be a professional pilot. The PPL flight training is conducted at our home base at LHGD Airport.

With a PPL license you will be able to fly with light, single engine aircraft whenever you like, wherever you like. You may take passengers like friends and family for pleasure flying, as well as you may build pilot in command hours for your future career.

Course description

The PPL program has two parts, a theoretical and a practical part.

The theoretical part includes nine subjects – Air Law, Human Performance, Meteorology, Communication, Principles of Flight, Operational Procedures, Flight Performance and Planning, Aircraft General Knowledge, Navigation. Studying for the 9 subjects needs an approximate time of 110 hours of learning in the form of home-study and 20 hours of theory consultation which is completed during the practical training. With this solution students can learn the theoretical part at home in a period of 2-3 months. At the end of the theoretical part and at the beginning of the practical part, successful home exams are required to continue the course.

Upon passing the home exams, you will need to pass the authority theoretical examination as well – preferably in the beginning of the practical training, but not later than the first solo flight which is at the middle of the practical course.

The practical part consists of 45 flight hours – preferably on one aircraft type. During that 45 hours you will get familiar with various flying skills such as airspace works, traffic patterns and emergency exercises, cross country navigation and check flights. 10 hours are pilot in command hours – where you will be the only person on board. During good weather conditions, it takes around 2 months to complete the practical part of the PPL.

When you reach 45 hours and pass the last check flight, authority practical exam is the next stage. During that additional 1.5-2 hours of exam flight, all your skills will be checked and evaluated by an examiner. With a successful examination, you can apply for your EASA PPL license.
