LAPL
Overview
A course for the aviation-enthusiasts who plan to fly as a hobby. A great and cost-efficient way to get a European Pilot License which is valid for flying small singe engine aircraft. If you have always dreamed about flying and want to fly in your free time without any airline aims, light aircraft pilot license is the right choice for you. Shorter and cheaper than the standard Private Pilot License, but still a good course to learn very well how to fly confidently.
Course description
LAPL course has two parts, a theoretical and practical part. During the theoretical part you will learn the basics of flying through various subjects including – Air Law, Human Performance, Meteorology, Communication, Principles of Flight, Operational Procedures, Flight Performance and Planning, Aircraft General Knowledge, Navigation. Most of the theoretical part is completed via distance learning and a short part is during the practical course as theoretical briefings. It takes around 2-3 months to prepare for the theory of the LAPL. At the end of the theoretical part and at the beginning of the practical part, successful home exams are required to continue the course and then, you will need to pass the authority theoretical examination as well – preferably in the beginning of the practical training, but not later than the first solo flight which is at the second half of the practical course – similarly to the PPL.
The practical part consists of 30 flight hours where you will learn all the important steps to fly, navigate and communicate while flying a single engine aircraft in VFR conditions. 6 hours are solo hours during the training. Completing the 30 hrs long practical training takes around 1.5 months. After you complete all the stages of the course, there will be a 1.5 – 2 hours long authority examination where you will be able to demonstrate your skills.
After the successful examination, you will be awarded with an EASA Light Aircraft Pilot License which is valid for recreational, pleasure and hobby flying. Please note that if you are not sure whether you want to continue you training in the future or if you want to fly more to deepen your skills, consider our Private Pilot License Course.
